Sony’s brand new flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ2 along with its smaller version Xperia XZ2 Compact has finally launched in Mobile World Congress 2018. After a long time, Sony decided to ditch the boxy design with sharp edges in favor of full screens with curved edges. Both the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact feature the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset and debuts with the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio display that offers wider viewing experience. Sony Xperia XZ2
Starting off with the main flagship, the Sony Xperia XZ2 has a sharp 5.7-inch Full HD+ HDR display with a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage that is expandable up to 400GB via a microSD card. The phone is backed up by a 3,180mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. In terms of software, it runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t offer 3.5mm headphone jack. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the rear of the phone. Lastly, the phone is certified with the IP67/IP68 rating, making it water and dust resistant.
As for the cameras, the Xperia XZ sports a 19-megapixel Motion Eye rear camera with f/2.0, 1.22μm pixel size, 8x digital zoom, 4K HDR recording and SteadyShot technology, while, the front side sports a 5-megapixel camera with a 23mm wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperture, and SteadyShot technology. Additionally, the phone also records 960fps Super slow motion video at up to 1080p resolution.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact comes with a smaller 5-inch Full HD+( 1080×2160 pixels) HDR display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Inside, it is fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor which is mated with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The phone does support storage expansion via a microSD card up to 400GB. Under the hood, it houses a 2,870mAh battery and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. You can find the fingerprint sensor at the back panel of the phone. Moreover, it also receives certification from IP67/IP68 which makes it water and dust resistant.
Coming to the camera, it packs the same 19-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera with SteadyShot technology and 5-axis image stabilization support.

Price and Availability
The Sony Xperia XZ2 is available in Liquid Black, Liquid Silver, Deep Green and Ash Pink colors, while the X2 compact comes in Black, White Silver, Moss Green and Coral Pink colors. Both these smartphones will be available globally starting March 2018. The company is yet to reveal the pricing details of the phones.
