After months of rumors and speculations, OnePlus has finally taken the wraps off its new flagship phone OnePlus 5T at an event held in New York. Obviously, this smartphone is an updated form of the OnePlus 5 which was released earlier this year. Notwithstanding, the smartphone doesn’t come with such massive changes since it packs the same processor, storage options, battery size, and even display resolution. But we can clearly see some major changes to the design language and dual camera setup as well. Now, let’s talk about them in brief.

The OnePlus 5T comes in a sleek aluminum unibody design with 80.5% screen-to-body ratio and 18:9 aspect ratio giving an enhanced wider viewing experience. It features a stunning 6.01-inch Full HD+ Optic AMOLED display with sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts support. The display is protected by a 2.5D Curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is powered by the same 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor aided by 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB UFS 2.1 storage. Battery size remains unchanged from the OnePlus 5 i.e. 3,300mAH but no worries, dash charge will save you from the low battery anxiety.
On the software side, it still operates on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with OxygenOS 4.7 on top. As for the Oreo update, the company seems to be working on it and is expected to arrive within next couple months. Another obvious change is the placement of the fingerprint scanner which is now placed on back side of the phone. In case, if you are bored of fingerprint scanner you can even opt for face unlock feature which unlocks the phone in just 0.4seconds. The phone still has the good, old 3.5mm headphone jack.
Now talking about one of the key highlights of the 5T, the dual camera. It features a 16MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, Sony IMX 398 sensor and 20MP secondary camera with f/1.7 aperture, Sony IMX 398 sensor. The telephoto lens seen on OnePlus 5 is replaced by a brighter 20MP secondary camera for better low light performance. An ‘Intelligent pixel technology’ is incorporated into the device that combines pixels together to absorb enough light and image data when taking low light shots.
Similar to the OnePlus 5, the front camera remains the same with a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and Sony IMX371 Sensor.
