The 4k display is turning into more standard. So, LG is stepping up the display game in a big way with the announcement of the world first 88-inch 8K OLED display. The newly unveiled OLED display is the huge upgrade over the current 77-inch panel which comes with 4K resolution. When compared to any other OLED display around, it easily takes away the cake here with its large and high-resolution display.
The 8K OLED Display is four times more than UHD (3840×2160) and 16 times more than FHD (1920×1080).
As of now, LG hasn’t revealed any specifications of the 88-inch 8K OLED display yet. But they did mention that this new OLED display will offer deeper blacks and much superior contrast, with colors keeping up their abundance regardless of what angle you see the display from.
In-Byung Kang, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at LG Display, said: ‘The successful development of the world’s first 8K OLED display is a milestone for the 8K era and underscores the exciting potential of OLED.’
‘OLED is clearly a next-generation technology leader and for this reason, LG Display is accelerating its research and development into OLED so that we can provide differentiated products to customers and markets.’
The 8K OLED display will feature the highest resolution of 33 million pixels (7680 x 4320) and is expected to be unveiled at the CES(Consumer Electronics Show) which is happening in Las Vegas this month.
