According to the latest reports, HTC is expected to launch a brand new flagship Smartphone- the HTC U12 Plus next month. Last year, the company released the HTC U11 but it was no match for others flagship phones like Google Pixel 2 and Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+, especially the front design and camera were a major disappointment. But this year HTC has got everyone’s hope high with the promising flagship U12 Plus. Idris Mootee, the CMO of HTC has stated that this new phone will give a tight competition to the likes of Samsung S9 series, Apple’s iPhone X, and Huawei P20 series.
HTC U12 Plus release date and specifications
At first, HTC was supposed to name it as HTC U12 but after recently leaked rumor they have finalized to call it the HTC U12 Plus. The phone was expected to be unveiled at the starting of April but due to some issues, the company decided to postpone the release date to the early May. According to rumors, it will probably hit the market after a month of its release date.
As per the latest leaks, the phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 845 SoC. As for the display, the phone will probably boast a 5.99-inch LCD Quad HD+ screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. The leak also suggests, the HTC U12 Plus will pack 6GB of RAM and 256GB Internal Storage. It will also come with an IP68 rating, making it resistant to water and dust while being fuelled by a 3,420mAh battery with support for wireless charging. In terms of software, the upcoming U12 Plus will run on the latest Andriod Oreo out-of-the-box with its own face unlock feature which is known as HTC Face Unlock.
It would seem that HTC could make a huge leap forward in the camera department with the HTC U12 Plus. The phone is rumored to be equipped with a dual camera setup at the back which uses 12MP and 16MP sensors accompanied by two-tone LED flash. Also, the U12 may add two 8MP sensors on the front, which is something you won’t find on the flagship of its rivals.
