After numerous leaks and rumors, Meizu has finally launched the much anticipated Meizu M6s in China today. The M6s is the successor to last year’s M5s and is also the company’s first phone to feature the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio display. The Meizu M6s comes with an all-metal build and has a fingerprint sensor which according to the company, can unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds. It is also the world’s first phone to be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7872 processor. Now, let’s take a closer look at the Meizu M6s, its specifications and more.

First off, talking about the specifications, the Meizu M6S has a metal unibody design and features a 5.7-inch In-cell HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1440 × 720 pixels. The company has adopted the new 18:9 display technology for the first time on its device. Inside, it is powered by 14nm Samsung Exynos 7872 processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with 3GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. A MicroSD card slot is also added to the phone that enables memory expansion for up to 128GB. The M6S houses a 3,070mAh battery with fast charging support. Also, as per the company claims, the battery offers 9.5 hours of video playback. On the software front, it runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with Flyme OS 6.2 skin on top of it.

This time the fingerprint sensor has moved to the right side of the device near the power button. Furthermore, the Meizu M6S is also included with Super mBack feature which basically works as a navigation that lets the user control their phone with simple gestures. Connectivity options include: 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS and Dual-SIM.

As far as the cameras are concerned, it features a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens and dual-tone LED Flash.On the front, there is an 8MP front camera with the exact same aperture that is f/2.0.

Pricing and Availability

The Meizu M6S is priced at CNY999 (approx. Rs 15,900) for the 3GB RAM/32 GB variant while the 3GB RAM/64GB variant costs CNY1199 (approx. Rs 19,000). The phone is available in multiple colour options; Black, Blue, Gold, and Silver, it will go on sale in China on 19th January. No word on the availability of the phone in any other markets at this point.
